28 Years of Making a Difference – Stepping Stones NI Celebrates a Milestone
This New Year, Stepping Stones NI celebrates 28 years of supporting and empowering individuals across Northern Ireland.
Since opening our doors on 5th January 1998, Stepping Stones NI has grown extensively, expanding our work across the region and developing new services and programmes to meet the diverse needs and goals of the people we support.
Today, Stepping Stones operates six social enterprises, which serve as realistic training platforms for people with learning disabilities to gain new skills and qualifications. These include three cafes, a wedding stationery and picture framing business, and a horticulture and well-being hub. Through these enterprises, our trainees gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment, building confidence and skills that last a lifetime.
Our Employment and Training Service provides tailored support for people who experience barriers to learning and employment. We specialise in supporting neurodiverse individuals, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, mental health challenges, and other obstacles to finding and maintaining work.
In addition, our Youth Service supports young people aged 16–24 to develop social skills, gain training, and access meaningful work experience, helping them take their first steps toward independence and a brighter future.
As we celebrate this milestone, we are proud of the impact we have made over the past 28 years and excited about the opportunities ahead.
From all of us at Stepping Stones NI, thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey – here’s to continuing to create positive change and brighter futures across Northern Ireland!
