Caring for Carers: Free Wellbeing Activities in Lisburn and Surrounding Areas

Carers in Lisburn and surrounding areas are being invited to take part in a new programme of free wellbeing activities designed to support their health, resilience, and social connections.

The Caring for Carers initiative, funded by the Public Health Agency through the Clear Project and delivered by Stepping Stones NI, offers a variety of activities to help carers take time for themselves, reduce stress, and enjoy positive experiences.

What’s on offer?

The programme includes a wide range of activities, each designed to improve wellbeing:

  • Yoga Classes – six sessions to help carers relax and recharge.

  • Therapeutic Art Group – six creative sessions with all materials provided.

  • Walking Group – six friendly outdoor walks to boost mood and physical health.

  • Zumba – six fun, uplifting dance-based fitness classes.

  • Social & Therapeutic Horticulture Group – twelve sessions including table-top gardening, accessible workbenches, and creative planting.

Who can take part?
The programme is open to anyone providing care to a family member, friend, or loved one with a learning disability. Whether caring full-time or part-time, carers are encouraged to use these sessions to focus on their own wellbeing.

Programme duration
Sessions run until February 2026, offering plenty of opportunities to get involved.
