European Heritage Open Day at Navigation House
Step into history at our European Heritage Open Day at Navigation House, Lisburn.
Navigation House is a landmark rich in local heritage, originally built to serve the Lagan Navigation. Today, Navigation House provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities and difficulties to develop horticulture skills, engage in well-being activities, and take part in community life, all while preserving and celebrating local history.
What’s On at the European Heritage Open Day
Visitors can enjoy a packed programme of events designed to educate, inspire, and entertain all ages.
Felt Art Workshops – Pre-booking Required
Take part in a hands-on heritage craft workshop and learn the ancient art of felt-making. Guided by a skilled tutor, you will discover wet felting techniques, watch a live demonstration, and create your own colourful felt picture to take home. All materials are provided.
RSBP Talk – 11.30am
Learn about the work of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the vital role our local environment plays in conservation.
Face Painting – 12.00pm – 2.00pm
A fun and colourful activity for children, adding extra excitement to the day.
Lagan Valley Regional Park Talk – 12.15pm
Discover the heritage and natural beauty of the Lagan Valley, a site of historical and environmental importance in Northern Ireland.
Lagan Navigation Trust Talk – 1.00pm
Explore the history of the Lagan Navigation, its impact on local industry and community life, and ongoing preservation efforts.
