Volunteers Wanted for Navigation House

Could you share your time, skills and enthusiasm with us?

We’re looking for new volunteers to join our team and help create opportunities for people with learning disabilities to learn, connect, build confidence and enjoy being part of their community.

In particular, we’re looking for people who love gardening and enjoy spending time with others. If you have green fingers, enjoy being outdoors, or simply have a passion or skill you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you.

Our outdoor spaces provide a wonderful opportunity to bring people together.  Volunteers could get involved in planting flowers and vegetables, caring for plants, preparing garden areas, creating welcoming spaces or supporting people to develop new gardening skills.

A volunteer might help someone plant their first seed, encourage them to try something new, share a conversation over a cup of tea or simply spend time enjoying an activity together.  These everyday moments can help build confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging.

We understand that everyone has different commitments, which is why we’re looking for volunteers with different levels of availability.

Whether you can offer regular support, volunteer occasionally or get involved with a particular project, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities, and you don’t need to be a gardening expert. What matters most is that you are friendly, patient, reliable and willing to get involved.  You could bring a particular skill or hobby, share your gardening knowledge, or simply bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to make a difference.

We’d love to hear from:

  • Gardening enthusiasts and green-fingered volunteers
  • People who enjoy spending time outdoors
  • Retired people looking to share their skills and experience
  • Students and people looking to gain experience
  • People with hobbies or practical skills they’d like to share
  • Anyone who enjoys meeting people and being part of a team
  • Local people who want to give something back to their community

There really is no one type of volunteer.

Our volunteers are an important part of creating opportunities for people to participate, learn new skills and enjoy new experiences.

So, if you have some time to share, a skill you’d like to pass on, or simply want to do something positive and meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.
